9/11---a poem

So they say today's the commemoration of 9/11
Not a celebration, an observation of those who went to heaven
To avoid stressing, I'm careful to only watch in passing
Can't let it get me down, on the floor crumbled like trash an'

It's hard to fathom a situation so grim in modern day
It happened in New York, but could occur in FLA
Feels like we're living in hell, America the Beautiful
So many died, but that day, you know where Bush duty fell?

It's a tireless debate, this back and forth, who's to blame
Over gas, policies, jealousy, real-life Contra, a big game
I could spout my theories just like another would
But it's meaningless, don't you think a Mother could?

The pain we endure watching countless footage on the tragedy
Like knives stabbing through us for this catastrophic calamity
It's a malady, this sickness to brush it under the rug in guilt
But it's hard when they said that was the strongest building built

Makes me selfishly wonder about the safety of me and mine
Pray to God the day don't come we trapped, waiting in line
Thoughts race through my mind, the FD was brave and strong
Courage was evident, even when things went wrong

Walkie-talkies busted, police instructions not followed
Those who listened to them, it was dirt they swallowed
Told to run back to they desks, the safest place to be
But those who ain't listen ended up rushing to safety

So it seems anarchy is the best way for us in these attacks
I'm hoping that's merely conjecture and not facts
Who wants to believe in times of terror you can't trust the suits
If they don't have a clue, what really are we supposed to do?

I guess we just gotta live, keep it moving every day
Live life to the fullest, until even the darkest day
My Grampa worked in the North tower before that day
For some reason, he was very late for work that day

Hearing the ominous tone in voices speaking of that day
It's scary to even say the numbers representing that day
It's 911, emergency, the 11th of September
The pain stings, no newscast or special is needed for us to remember…
